Practical from day one

This agriculture degree offers access to Charles Sturt University's 2,000-hectare commercial mixed farm at Wagga Wagga (an outdoor classroom that has been in operation since the 1800s).

Fast-track your degree

If you've received an eligible diploma from TAFE, you could benefit from guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management and fast-track your degree. You could even receive an offer to study before you get your end-of-year high school marks through the School Recommendation Schemes (SRS). This degree is open to students at eligible schools, agricultural colleges and TAFE institutes.

Flexible study options

When it comes to how to study agriculture, the choice is yours. Combine your study with work commitments. Study full-time for three years at Wagga Wagga, six years part-time online, or a mixture of both online and on campus.

On-farm and practical learning

Our farms, field and laboratory facilities, all located on campus, provide a training facility for students and a base for several commercial, educational and research enterprises.

What you will study

For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

Intensive school

You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.

An elective subject can be chosen from any discipline at any level. However note that students may complete a maximum 10 Level 1 subjects in the BABM. Therefore students will in most cases be able to complete maximum of one Level 1 unrestricted elective. Students intending to work in animal enterprises are recommended to complete PSC360 Pastures and Rangelands as their elective. Students also encouraged to complete AGR220 Extension.
