CSU provides short term financial assistance to help students continue their studies. Loans are zero interest and are offered for educational needs, or to provide emergency relief.
Short term loans
Short term loans are available to active CSU students who are Australian citizens, permanent residents or who hold a humanitarian visa.
Short term loans may be used to meet expenses such as:
- textbooks, readers and journals
- course equipment
- travel and accommodation costs for compulsory placements and residential schools
- study related equipment
- general and ongoing living expenses
- emergency medical and dental expenses
- bond and rent in advance if relocating for study purposes.
Loans are available for amounts up to $2,000 and students may be asked to provide a guarantor.
If you require a short-term loan for essential items or expenses such as food, emergency accommodation or expenses associated with medical or family crisis, and where the money is required urgently (i.e. within one working day), an emergency loan may be an option.
All active students who are Australian citizens, permanent residents or who hold a humanitarian visa are eligible to apply for an emergency loan. Loans are available for amounts up to $100.
Zero interest student loans are available to eligible enrolled on-shore international students studying at one of CSU's regional campuses, including Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquaire and Wagga Wagga. International student loans allow students to cover the costs of unforeseen circumstances that impact on their studies. Emergency loans of up to $300 are available where there is a temporary shortfall due to emergency circumstances. Short term loans of up to $500 are available to meet study related expenses in ordinary circumstances.
More information about Student Loans is available from student.csu . Appointments for these and other services offered by Student Services should be made through Student Central .
