Equity and Merit Scholarships and Grants
Provides financial assistance to students attending a compulsory residential school.


 

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible for this Grant in 2019 you must be:

  1. studying an undergraduate or postgraduate degree (this includes honours) as an active student;
  2. enrolled in a CSU course as a Commonwealth supported student (full fee paying students or students at Goulburn Campus are not eligible);
  3. enrolled as a full-time or part-time student;
  4. a commencing or continuing student, Continuing students must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher (pass grade average);
  5. enrolled as an internal or online student;
  6. enrolled in a compulsory residential school in the residential school period currently being offered;
  7. an Australian Citizen, a New Zealand citizen, a permanent Australian resident or a student with an Australian Permanent visa;
  8. of low socio-economic status
    • in receipt of an eligible means tested Centrelink Benefit (refer Appendix A of the guidelines) or
    • must be able to demonstrate financial hardship.

PLEASE NOTE: To be eligible for this grant you must be enrolled in subjects and have met all eligibility criteria by the closing date of this grant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I am successful?

If you are successful in your application for the grant, you will be notified in writing. 

  • Albury/Wodonga, Canberra, Port Macquarie, Sydney and Wangaratta, Residential Schools

Your RSEG will provide you with up to $80 per night (for the specified number of nights accommodation granted) to put towards the cost of accommodation. Payment will be made via electronic funds transfer (EFT) directly into your nominated bank account.

  • Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wagga Wagga Residential Schools

Your RSEG will provide you with up to $80 per night subsidy towards on-campus accommodation in the CSU Halls of Residence.

Please note that Albury, Dubbo and Orange accommodation are non-catered cottage style  accommodation.

You will be responsible for making your own booking with Residences prior to the Early Bird Rate closing day. (We'll provide a link to this information if you are successful or see the FAQs).

Due to demand and the finite quantity of grants available, rarely are we able to provide a subsidy for all the nights required.

If you are an Albury/Wodonga, Canberra, Port Macquarie, Sydney and Wangaratta residential school applicant you will receive the grant daily rate per night directly into your nominated bank account 1-2 weeks after the outcome notification.

If you are a Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange or Wagga Wagga applicant, the grant amount will be credited to your CSU Student Account 2-3 weeks after the official residential school period ends.

You will only receive an amount up to the total number of nights awarded on the outcome notice.  If you stay for less than the nights awarded, the final amount paid will be based on the number of nights stayed.

What if my circumstances have changed from what I put on my application form?

You must notify the CSU Scholarships immediately by emailing  ask@csu.edu.au.  Upon receipt of details regarding a change in circumstances, CSU may reassess your grant eligibility.

What is considered financial hardship?

Is considered to be in financial hardship when they find it difficult to provide for themselves, their family or dependents basic necessities such as food, accommodation, clothing, medical treatment and education.

Can I submit a late application?

No, applications received after the closing date will not be considered
