The Bachelor of Horticulture from Charles Sturt University prepares you for diverse careers – from sales to research to production. Study at your own place and pace

When it comes to how to study horticulture, this online course enables you to balance your study with work, family and lifestyle commitments. Study horticulture online and you'll learn using a range of online resources and communication tools, as well as attending intensive schools on campus or through study tours, and undertaking workplace learning in industry. You may also be able to adjust your study load - taking on more subjects to accelerate your degree and graduate sooner, or reducing them if life gets busy.

GOTAFE pathway

The Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma of Horticulture provides an admission pathway to our Bachelor of Horticulture. Credit will normally only be granted on the basis of completed TAFE or VET qualifications at the Certificate IV Horticulture level or above.

What you will study

For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

Intensive school

You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.

Charles Sturt was my first choice because the course provides exciting subjects in a variety of disciplines including horticulture, agriculture soil science and ecology. Charles Sturt also has a long history in the agricultural sciences.
