The Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Paramedicine provides a pathway for qualified paramedics to pursue a professional specialisation in critical care. As paramedicine moves towards professional registration under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), a paramedicine degree from Charles Sturt University will ensure you start your career with the best possible qualification.

The Critical Care specialisation provides specialised skills in advanced critical care. You'll learn to integrate advanced medical care, respiratory care, cardiac care and trauma techniques into your current practice and make expert judgments to ensure your patients experience the best possible care.
This postgraduate course is delivered online, providing the opportunity to upgrade your qualifications while you work.
Your paramedicine degree can open doors to positions beyond the scope of traditional paramedic practice. Depending on the specialisation studied, you could work as a critical care paramedic, intensive care paramedic, mobile intensive care ambulance paramedic, or community paramedic. Paramedicine is a growing global career, and employment opportunities occur in both advanced and developing countries.
For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.
You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.
