Career opportunities

Your Master of Critical Care Paramedicine can open doors to employment opportunities across Australia and internationally. You could find a role as a critical care paramedic, intensive care paramedic, or mobile intensive care ambulance paramedic. You could also consider specialist roles in leadership, research or education, and other positions beyond the scope of traditional paramedic practice.

    What you will study

    For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

    Intensive school

    You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.

    Critical Care

    The Critical Care specialisation provides expert, specialised skills in advanced critical care. You'll learn to integrate advanced medical care, respiratory care, cardiac care and trauma techniques into your current practice and make expert judgments to ensure your patients experience the best possible care.

    • Bachelor's degree in Paramedicine from a University or tertiary education provider (or equivalent)
      OR
    • A graduate diploma in Paramedicine from Charles Sturt or an equivalent University or tertiary organisation

    NOTE: Registered nurses without paramedic experience should apply to the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedicine) rather than the Graduate Diploma of Paramedicine.
