    Why study with us?

The Graduate Diploma of Accounting centres on studies in accounting and related disciplines so you can build on your non-accounting undergraduate studies and work experience.

    Valuable skill set

You'll study the conceptual basis and principles of accounting practice, the impact of the business environment on accounting theory and its application, and regulatory requirements controlling the accounting process. You'll also learn to understand and apply principles and analytical techniques from economics, commercial law, business communications and quantitative methods in the accounting context.

    Flexible study options

Online study is a time-efficient way to complete your accounting degree with minimal impact on your professional and personal commitments. You'll learn using learning techniques that include online study materials, video-captured lectures, online meetings and subject forums. Career opportunities

The Graduate Diploma of Accounting will add significant value to your professional career. It also offers a pathway to further study. For instance, if you go on to complete the Master of Professional Accounting (12 subjects), you'll meet the academic requirements for entry into the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and CPA Australia postgraduate programs. This can open up many vocational opportunities in areas as diverse as financial management, public practice, commerce and industry, government and semi-government organisations and accounting education.

      What you will study

For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

      Intensive school

You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.

Factors I considered when I started looking at a university were the quality of the course, the tuition fee and the location of the campus. Charles Sturt satisfied all my needs because it was famous for accounting.
