Wherever you want to take your career in the intelligence analysis field, you'll be able to demonstrate high-level skills in the collection, collation and analysis of information. You may support criminal investigations and manage and assess large volumes of disparate data, applying contemporary analytical tools and techniques to produce actionable operational and strategic intelligence.

    What you will study

    For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

    Intensive school

    You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.

    Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Intelligence Analysis need to satisfy one or more of the following criteria:

    • Be working as an intelligence practitioner in a law enforcement, national security, regulatory, or commercial agency.
    • Demonstrate professional experience in one or more intelligence practitioner contexts (strategic, operational, or tactical intelligence).
    • Have completed a relevant Charles Sturt University intelligence short course, or an industry based course recognised by Charles Sturt University.
    • Hold an undergraduate or post-graduate qualification in criminology, justice, or security studies.
    • Satisfy the Course Director of other skills or professional qualifications that would make the candidate eligible for entrance into the course.
