You could pursue leadership positions or explore roles such as specialised teaching professional, policy maker, education administrator or educational researcher. Completion of this qualification can also provide an entry point into the Master of Education (generic and with specialisations).

        What you will study

        For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

        Intensive school

        You may need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects in this course. These schools usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals that will give you a deeper understanding of your subject.

        An applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Education must have at least the following minimum qualifications: Hold the degree of Bachelor (or AQF equivalent) in any discipline from a University or other approved tertiary institution and a minimum of two years of professional experience in a field deemed to be closely related to education;  Hold the degree of Bachelor (or AQF equivalent) in any discipline from a University or other approved tertiary institution and Graduate Diploma (or AQF equivalent) in teaching/education or any relevant field considered appropriate to the program of study and minimum of one year professional experience in a field of study related to education; Hold the degree of Bachelor (or AQF equivalent) in any discipline from a University or other approved tertiary institution and Graduate Certificate (or AQF equivalent) in teaching/education or any relevant field considered appropriate to the program of study plus a minimum of 1.5 years professional experience in related field of study; Possess other qualifications and/or work experience deemed to be AQF equivalent; and complete any additional qualifying subjects or course prescribed by the Faculty.
