Support

Our student support services are a natural part of your CSU experience, so we'll introduce them to you early and encourage you to use them often. We're available seven days a week, online or over the phone, but also face-to-face in ways you might not have considered.

Introduction to Learning Online

Is online study new to you? There is no need to panic. We’ll introduce you to all the skills and tools you’ll need before you start studying. As soon as you enrol you’ll have access to a free short online subject called Introduction to Learning Online (SSS032). With access to a facilitator, a host of resources and your fellow students, you’ll get to experience using the online learning environment and can practise using the tools you’ll need for successful study at CSU. This subject covers important topics including using Interact2 (CSU’s online learning management system), finding your subject outline, accessing modules, communicating with your subject coordinator, finding online resources, joining an online classroom and submitting assessment items online. The subject is provided by STUDY LINK which offers a range of short, self-paced, online subjects which fill knowledge gaps and build skills and confidence. They are free for CSU Commonwealth-Supported students.

Seven days a week

Our learning advisers are available every day of the week until 7pm and you can phone, email, Skype or chat with them online. Learning advisers have academic and teaching backgrounds and specialise in subject areas as well as literacy, numeracy and the English language. So you can ask specific questions about your course of study, or more general questions about how to get the most out of studying online.

Our learning advisers can help with:

  • our quick question call back service
  • individual appointments to work on study planning and technique
  • assignment feedback
  • online and face-to-face workshops
  • study guides and tips

Connect to a community of support

Choosing to study online doesn't have to mean choosing to do it all alone. When you study with us you're joining a community of supportive staff and fellow students you can engage with and learn from in any way you choose.

Real advice from real students

Our student outreach team is a group of specially trained current students who will call you at key times during your first session of study. They've been there and done it, and can help you connect with other support if you choose.

Online study, in-person support

Our CSU Outreach team travels to towns and cities across Australia, for most of the year. They hold face-to-face sessions for online students in local venues, so you'll have a chance to ask questions and to meet the team and other online students.

A virtual community

CSU Social is our dedicated online space for you to meet fellow students, share your challenges and triumphs and see what everyone else is up to. There are also course and subject specific discussion boards available in your online learning space, where you can work with your classmates and teachers.
